Target Price Matching Policy

Have you heard? Target has now joined Walmart in offering to match prices.

How it Works

You must take in the full current weekly ad that includes the prices you would like to see Target match, and all price matching must be done at customer service rather than at the register. Products subject to price matching must be of a certain brand, not type. For example, Target will match the price of a Dole pineapple, but they will not honor a price match if the brand of pineapple is not advertised. Your market my vary so I suggest contacting your local store for more details.

Here's the email from Target headquarters that is circulating around the blogosphere:

Dear Target Guest,

Thanks for taking the time to ask us about price matching at Target. Target now offers price matching with any qualifying competitor. To take advantage of this promotion you must bring in local competitor’s entire current ad. The advertised price must be valid at the competitor the day the price match is requested. Target does not accept ads that have expired, computer printouts, even those advertising in-store prices. Photos, photocopies or mobile phone versions of in-store prices, partial ads or pages cut from ads are also not accepted. Please visit your local Target location for further information.

We look forward to showing you what's new at Target.

Sincerely,
Beth
Target Guest Relations

Shop CVS? Give It A Try!

CVS has the ExtraCare program. Extra Bucks (also known as ExtraCare Bucks, or ECBs) are coupons that print at the end of your receipt after qualifying purchases. ECBs can be used like cash on future purchases, except you will not change back if you spend less than the total face value. They typically expire about 4 weeks after they are issued. You will need an Extra Care card to participate in this program. You can get one at your store or here. It's easier to pick one up at your local CVS and then you can use it right away. It looks just like a credit/debit card.

First, get a $5 off $25 CVS purchase ($25 is before manufacturer’s coupons and Extra Care Bucks) here. Simply watch the video, take a short survey and print your coupon. Use that alongside this weeks sales and you’ll likely make money at CVS this week. If your store is out of the hottest deals, be sure to request a rain check so you can pick them up next week.

The key to big savings is using coupons and rewards programs together. Websites like www.thegrocerygame.com can help you do this by compiling shopping lists. For instance, let’s say CVS offered a deal of free-after-ECB L’Oreal Revitalift Anti-Wrinkle Serum. it’s advertised that if you buy one at $11.99, you get $11.99 back in ECBs. But wait! If you use a $2 off $10 purchase coupon that was available online at the same time, and a $3 off L’Oreal Revitalift Anti-Wrinkle product coupon from a previous Sunday newspaper, you will only pay $6.99 and still get $11.99 back in ECBs. In other words, you’d “make” $5 to spend at CVS on things you’d be buying anyway, like food or diapers or toilet paper.

The strategy at the check out is to split your order so that you pay for the items with ECB attached separately. That way you can use the ECBs from the first order to help pay for the second order, etc. That way your out-of-pocket cost is much less. Once you get in the hang of how CVS works its ECB program you can look at the CVS weekly circular (which arrives at my house on during the week with the paper) and eyeball the deals based on what you know you have in coupons.

In My Mailbox Today. . .

Today was a great mail day! I received my September issue of All You. This magazine is the best! It is published by the same company that publishes PEOPLE Magazine. It is full of great recipes, craft ideas, affordable home decorating and fashion with "real" sized models. I love that this magazine reflects the way I live, the way I dress and the way I shop. It's full of great coupons as well which is why it is at the top of my list! The savings more than pays for the subscription. You can pick this magazine up only at Wal-Mart. The September issue has not hit Wal-Mart yet, but should be any day. I have found that there is a difference between the subscription edition and the store edition in the number of coupons included. So far my observation is that the store edition has more. I wait to get my subscription copy, wait a few days and then head to Wal-Mart to get a second copy. Sometimes there is a coupon in the subscription copy for a second copy which rocks. The magazine sells for $2.44 at Wal-Mart. I highly recommend that you check this resource out. I think you will come to watch for it monthly like I do!

I also received my quarterly copy of Kraft Foods food&family magazine. This magazine is full of great meal ideas, recipes and new Kraft product information. This quarter there is a great Back - To - School insert with $5 worth of Kraft coupons ($10 on Wednesdays at Rainbow!)along with a few other coupons here and there. Typically I find that there are no coupons in this magazine but lots of great recipes and ideas. I do puruse this throughly when I get it and the coupons this issue are a real bonus. You do have to sign-up for this magazine and it is FREE. kraftfoods.com/connect is the website and 1.800.521.4403 is the phone. Give both of these a try!

Dannon Coupon Offer Dannonomics!

This is a great opportunity to get coupons for the yogurt products you are probably buying anyway! Follow this link DANNONOMICS for the mail in coupon offer. This is one of the products that I NEVER pay for at Rainbow. Typically one of the Dannon brand of yogurts is on sale for 2 for $4.00. I always have some $1 coupons that double and give me free yogurt. It's awesome. As always, read the fine print! This promotion involves purchases made with ONE register receipt, not multiple receipts. Also, products bought at Sam's Club and Costco do not qualify.

Look for possibly 6 Dannon coupons in the Smart Source supplement in this Sunday's edition of the paper. Remember that sometimes it makes sense to purchase more than one copy of the paper if the coupons warrant.

Limits=Buy

Here's a great rule-of-thumb for shopping sales. This applies at the grocery store, Target or with school supplies.

When an ad or display includes a limit on how many of the items you can purchase, buy up to that limit. This means that the items is at it's lowest price and will not be going lower. Stockpile and enjoy as you watch the price creep back up.

Bounce Dryer Bar Deal At Target!

Charlene let me know about this great upcoming deal at Target:

In this weekend’s inserts there is a Target coupon for $1.50 off a Bounce Dryer Bar. They are currently priced at $3.79 at Target. If you are a member ofVocalpoint, you may have received coupons in the mail for $2.50 off a dryer bar. Stack these coupons and it will be free.
If you are not a member of Vocalpoint, use the coupon in the 08/02 P&G and this will be $1.29

I get monthly coupons from Vocalpoint mainly for cereal/bread/waffles. I have gotten several free products from them. I highly recommend that you join this site and get on their mailing list. www.vocalpoint.com Last week I received 6 coupons from Vocalpoint for Rice Krispies cereal. One was for a free box and 5 were for $1.00 a single box. I will wait for the cereal to go on sale and double the coupon for $2.00 off a box and probably get them for free or darn close. If I don't need all of the boxes, then I pass them on to the food shelf and contribute that way.

New Kraft Promotion Save $55

Kraft has a new promotion going on that you will find detailed in a coupon booklet that you can pick up at the grocery store. This is what it looks like. I always keep my eyes peeled for coupons of any kind at the grocery. Any time you see a temporary display in the aisle, chances are that there is a coupon booklet or tear pad of coupons near by. Look for these! Even if you don't need them at the time, hang on to them for later. These offers will often prove to be valuable!

This booklet has 2 sets of coupons that cover many of the Kraft crackers, snacks, juice boxes and Easy Mac. The deal is that you need to buy 10 Nabisco cookies/crackers, 5 beverages (CapriSun and Kool-Aid Jammers and 5 Easy Mac Single Cups. These items do not need to be purchased in one order or at a particular store. You can accumulate several receipts in order to achieve this requirement. Once you have these items purchases, circle the items on the receipt and send them in with the filled-in rebate form inside the coupon booklet. YOU CAN DO THIS TWICE! The deadline for the first rebate is 12/31/09. The dates for the second rebate are 1/10/10-6/30/10.

The idea is to use one set of coupons now and save the second set for January 2010. There are 15 $1 coupons in this book. That means you can save $30 on these products if you buy them on Wednesdays at Rainbow Foods. Watch the ads for sales on these products as well as a second coupon to go with each of the coupons in the book for even more savings.

Kelloggs Fuel for School Update

Another great opportunity! I posted information about the Kellogg's Fuel For School promotion a few posts back. You have probably seen the coupons from last week's paper and the little school bus display in the stores with the qualifying products on them. You might even notice that there is an awesome coupon book on that display as well.
On the promotion literature you see that it states that only one $10 Kellogg's rebate check per household/address. Well. . . there are 3-4 different PO boxes listed on different rebate forms. So. . . you can work this deal 3-4 different times and get 3-4 different $10 rebate checks! This has been confirmed with Kellogg's as being legitimate and okay to do. Google the Kellogg's Fuel for School promotion and see that there are several different rebate forms out there. Print out a couple with different PO boxes and you are good to go. Remember that you need to have all 10 of your qualifying items on one receipt, so you'll have to check out multiple times or do this deal on different days. Last week I saved $210 at Rainbow Foods with this promotion making up a huge part of my savings.

Give it a try!

Free Bic Pens AND Colgate Toothpaste!

I worked a great deal today at Walgreens. You can do it too, but don't wait too long or you might find the products gone. In your SmartSource coupon supplement today there should be a $1/2 Bic Stationary Products near the front of the supplement. Mine was on page 2. Clip this coupon!

Also in today's SmartSource there is a $1.00 coupon for Colgate TOTAL toothpaste. Cut this coupon out as well.

Go to Walgreens and get the $2.99 Colgate Enamel Strength toothpaste. If you happen to have other Colgate TOTAL coupons, use them as well and get as many as you can. I happen to have 2 of these $1.00 coupons. The store does not check the coupons closely enough to see if the particular "type" of Colgate toothpaste matches the coupon or not.

Now go to the school supply section and grab 2 Bic Ultra Round Stic Grip pens. These are on sale for 2/$1. If your mind is working quickly you will already realize that these will be FREE!

When you get to the checkout, give the cashier the pens. Let her ring them up and THEN give her the coupon(s). You will see that all you have to do is pay the tax. I got 80 FREE PENS TODAY! I had 4 of these coupons. I got 2 in my paper today because one section of the paper was double stuffed. DARN! I had printed two off of the internet weeks ago and saved them in anticipation of a freebie opportunity.

Lastly, give the cashier your toothpaste. If you have more than one of these coupons, pay for them separately! With each of your Colgate purchases you will receive an instant register rebate of $3.00! So. . . you end up paying $1.99 for a tube of toothpaste and you get $3.00 back! So what if you don't need toothpaste! Give it away if you have enough stockpiled. This is a great opportunity to save!

Recap:
I bought 80 Bic pens for 13 cents.
I bought 2 tubes of toothpaste for -$2.00 which means they paid me $2.00 to take these out of the store.

Give this a try! I promise that it works!

Let me know how you do.

Free Sharpies At Office Depot Through Saturday!

Another great deal! Paste the attached link into your browser and print out a couple of sheets of $1.00 coupons for Sharpie Accent highlighters. Go to Office Depot (I went to the one in EP) and check out their school supply section for a 6 pack of Sharpie Highlighters (3 yellow, 1 orange, 1 pink, 1 blue). These are on sale for .99 a pack. You will need to check out individually for each pack that you buy and there is NO limit listed on shelf tag. The only restriction on the coupon is one coupon per transaction. The items will ring up at $1.06 which includes tax. The clerk will credit you .99 and you pay .7 for the tax. I got 4 packages, 24 highlighters for .28. That's a penny a piece. Not bad!!
